German Foot Serjeants

These little guys are from Alternative Armies, sold as Scottish Pikeman but they seemed well suited the role of foot serjeant thanks to their spears, armor and shields. They are supplied with long pikes but I cut those down to be more of a spear. The minis also fit the theme of late 14th century of early 15th century thanks to their padded aketons and bascinet helmets.

As crusade forces to fight my Hussites
these guys have the blessing of
the Church.

I added an Italian style visor to this
one, just a little conversion
to add variety.

I also sculpted in a padded coif.

I couldn't resist painting in the
stitching on his helmet liner.

I intend to use the cross on most of
the minis in my German force.

Alternating colors on major items
helps to break the mono-pose
composition of this unit.

I almost have this unit finished, they will act as the infantry backbone of my German retinue for Lion Rampant. I imagine they will be the stiff line that holds objectives and denies the advance of the Hussite forces they oppose. The shock forces of my Germans will be men at arms both mounted and foot, most of those I have painted up as well but I don't think I've shared those yet on the blog. More to come soon.

Still thirsty,
Chris
